1970s yellow PVC for The Cape Queen

1970s yellow PVC for The Cape Queen

Now we’ve introduced Clair The Cape Queen it’s time to understand what capes tick the right boxes for her. Following on from the 1950s heavy rubber cape, here’s something way lighter, way brighter and a touch more modern, albeit in a 1970s-style. Think raincapes and it’s easy to get sucked into the 1980s/1990s look but Clair’s swerved such cliched airs with something pleasingly different. It’s one of two coloured transparent capes we’re delighted to be featuring and hope you too think it looks the part. We certainly do.

      Hello Hans,
Thank you so much for the reply. I have a couple from the brand that I will definitely look forward to showing here. I am looking to add to the collection. They are lovely to wear aren’t they? It’s delightful to hear that both your wife and yourself thoroughly enjoy wearing them. Regards.

yes they are lovely to wear . just easily put a raincape around our shoulder and we are protected against nasty weather – today we are caped up in a black semi transparent Cape from PUL going to town. your red cape fits you very well – you have a city Cape???

      Hi Hans.
Thank you for the lovely reply. It’s wonderful to discuss capes and hear of your wife and yourself wearing them whilst out. I have a few city or going out capes. I have a clear Hunter one and I’m currently deciding on which PUL cape to purchase for city adventures like both of you do. The semi transparent black is a great option. I am toying with getting that one in long or the semi transparent white.
Please share any comments with me as it’s an absolute pleasure to read them. Thank you.

    Hi Clair,
we wish you a merry Christmas. we think you are doing a good buy for a semi trasnsp. black and a white or blue Cape. Green is for you an option too.!!!! Why don’t you buy an enclosed Cape for long walks.
As the weather is nasty , we are going to buy from pvc u like a blue enclosed Cape and a Open neck Cape probably green shiny or with dots for our long wood walks.
I am sure we feel good and rpotective wearing these capes.

      Hello Hans

Thank you so much for the helpful response. First of all I must thank you for your Christmas wishes. I also wish your Wife and yourself a very Merry Christmas. I think the semi transparent black encased cape is a great idea. I was toying with that and the mac style too, I am torn between the two. Green is a good idea also.
I think the capes you are to buy sound lovely. Woodland walks will be much better in a wonderfully protective cape to keep the elements at bay. I love that you are considering dots too. I love dotted capes. You will both look fantastic. It would be wonderful to see you in them.
      Kindest regards Clair

yesterday we made a small walk in our city and we enjoyed wearing our raincapes
i was in a green cape and my wife in her blue enclosed cape, So it kept us dry and protective against cold and rain.
It was just a pleasure. Some people asked us where we bought our Capes.
Did you wear a cape these day s – merry chirstmas Are you going to buy your desired capes?

      Hello Hans

What a lovely vision I have of you both walking around the city with your raincapes.
Your wife and yourself were very clearly protected whilst you enjoyed your time out. Was the weather bad? The green and blue capes must have complemented each other so well that I am not at all surprised that you were complemented on them.
I have just ordered a cape so I will excitedly await its arrival. I will be sure to get it shown here so you both may see it.
I had a local walk in the countryside in my Hunter cape a couple of days ago. I can confirm I stayed perfectly dry and cosy.

I thank you for your Christmas wishes and I wish you an early Happy New Year 2024.

    Hello Clair,
    Is your black rubber Raincape without armslits?? I had a similar Cape;
About in the eighties I used to commute every day from augsburg to munich –
I had to walk ten minutes to and from the station. In case of rain we bought Klepper Capes. So i put around my neck a KLEPPER rubberized cotton raincape in green or blue shiny colour with closable armslits either by buttom or a zip. So it was an enclosed cape. It kept me dry. See the videeo klepper raincapes. My wife loved the blue shiny enclosed Klepper Cape. I used the green Cape and this was almost a second skin for both of us. We wish you a happy new Year

Hi Hans. I am sorry for the delay in replying to this.
I do have the two black rubber type capes. One with slits one without. The one without elevates the encapsulated feeling. I can fully appreciate the feelings when wearing them. I love when rain falls and you are untouched by it. I am always happy to hear of your wife and yourself and the many cape adventures you embark upon. Regards Clair.
P.s. I hope that your 2024 is going well so far.
