Capes on Tour: The Cape Queen in Macclesfield, part 1

1

Just how wet could it be as The Cape Queen headed into Macclesfield for a shoot? With the sky grey as possible – and dark too – it was as if the town had engineered a welcome custom-made for The Cape Queen.

Macclesfield is great and another visit on a. hopefully brighter day will lead to further architectural explorations. But it’s just as a Midlands town should be: It’s honest, unpretentious, with good shops (if you like that sort of thing) but also some top-flight architecture that in many ways has escaped the 1970s town-planning wrecking ball.

A decent walk around the town in that heavy rain saw The Cape Queen digging out a suitably late-1960s pvc polka dot cape, and despite those dark grey clouds there was a little spark of cheerfulness courtesy of that cape. At times the rain was, well, worthy of planning to build an ark, but it allowed for some great images.

There are some more images to come and another town is pencilled-in for a visit soon. As always, keep watching and remember we have plenty of capes to sell.
