Do you get the (trig) point?

The Cape Queen’s interest in Mercia’s history means there’s plenty of walking in the hills, and it’s that often-happening bad weather that led to her love of raincapes and the all-enveloping protection they provide. Over Easter the rain fortunately didn’t come, but Clair still donned a cape as she hiked to this trig point high up on her favourite moors. Trig points were put up across the country between 1935 and 1962 as the Ordnance Survey, Britain’s mapping agency, sought to improve the accuracy of maps. On the day these pictures were taken the sky was blue, the numerous clouds were light and bowled along by a stiff breeze and the views were utterly spectacular. And let’s be honest, The Cape Queen was resplendent in red Bormax cape and yellow boots: a delightful sight indeed, we think you will agree.
