Clair The Cape Queen’s keeping the retro-raincape vibe alive and well, as this shorter floral-print number proves. Again out on a dull day that marked the end of 2023, suddenly we were back to 1973, give or take a couple of years. But unlike some of the single-hue capes The Cape Queen’s been wearing, this time she went the patterned route, with something clearly eye-catching. While the colours are slightly muted the cape received plenty of attention, and rightly so. Fortunately we didn’t encounter any Austin Allegros or beige bell-bottoms: The Cape Queen’s cape showed that there was plenty to like from five decades ago.

Thank you so much for the nice compliment. The tonic cape is a delight to wear. It’s a lightweight nylon fabric and a very good walking cape as it does not weight you down. The fabric is very much like an umbrella fabric and quite breathable. I will be wearing many of my capes in public. On that day we were at a wonderful lake that’s busy with walkers and I felt great during my walk. Have you worn your capes again?

on Tuesday we had rainshowers so we put on our raincapes visiting a small village near munich
