A daytime flight….

…of stairs. Clair The Cape Queen donned her fine, super-long, super-heavy rubberized satin cape for a stroll out recently. Down the road, through the alleyway, across the road and then up the flight of steps – believed to be from the 1950s – and on to the hops.

Enjoying the local architecture is an important part of The Cape Queen’s everyday life. She believes in the ‘look up’ theory because there’s so much more to urban architecture than what’s at eye level. Look up, and you’ll often see something pleasing or, at the very least, interesting.

But even this flight of steps was interesting. Solid, certainly, but with purpose and design in one elegantly-functional set-up. How long will it last? Difficult to say, but it’s definitely from the times when councils had a long-term investment ethos.

And the cape? Well, it has structure, it has form, and so far it seems to have a proper, traditional longevity, and that’s to be admired.
